I don&#039;t see young Eric as truly &lt;i&gt;evil&lt;/i&gt;.  Quotations like the one above are, I think, mostly a kind of self-mythologizing, an attempt to appear tough and sophisticated.  He&#039;s embittered and supremely selfish, and a slave to the baser human instincts - but not out and out bad.

He&#039;s a desperately lonely and insecure little boy, and it&#039;s hard not to feel sorry for him sometimes.  His recurrent catchphrase &lt;i&gt;&quot;Screw you guys!
