Don&#8217;t try to read this second excerpt, though, if you haven&#8217;t read the first: I haven&#8217;t provided any sort of &#8220;as you&#8217;ll recall&#8230;&#8221; recap of the characters, setting, and so on, which might let you take a shortcut.
