From S.J. Perelman, born on this day in 1904:
I guess I’m just an old mad scientist at bottom. Give me an underground laboratory, half a dozen atom-smashers, and a beautiful girl in a diaphanous veil waiting to be turned into a chimpanzee, and I care not who writes the nation’s laws.
Ha!

Diabolically hilarious.

Squirrel: Yeah! My favorite twist is where he seems for an instant to be playing a stereotypical dirty old man, that bit about the diaphanous veil — but then turns, like, 75 degrees counter-clockwise with the “waiting to be turned into a chimpanzee” phrase.

Jules: That is a great handle, isn’t it? If you get a sec, you might want to follow the link to the Squirrel’s own blog; the photo in the sidebar there indeed depicts a querulous squirrel.
