I do love a punchline — or a cartoon caption — which makes me pause for a split-second before making me snort. (Score another for the Bizarro strip.)
This one’s even better than that first split-second made me realize, as I just noticed when uploading it.

One of my favourites in this vein – though I can’t now find the cartoon itself (from Punch, late 70s, I think) – involved a chap in pyjamas walking forlornly down the snow-strewn garden path away from his country cottage, meekly following The Grim Reaper, and glancing over his shoulder for one last regretful look at his home. High above the rooftops he sees Santa and his reindeer flying by. The Reaper growls, “I bet you didn’t believe in him either.”

froog: You knew, didn’t you, that I’d have to search for that cartoon somewhere online? (You probably knew I’d fail, too.)
Do you know Terry Pratchett’s Discworld books featuring DEATH? (His name is always spelt with the initial D, the rest in small caps.) Pratchett’s character isn’t so… so… so dry and so mordant as the one in this cartoon apparently was. Love this punchline.
